Bioinformatics Scientist

The Bioinformatics Scientist is involved in planning and analyzing a variety of experimental data leading to validation of diagnostic tests in the field of oncology. The Bioinformatics Scientist will participate in data analysis of NGS and qRT-PCR gene expression, DNA methylation and other data sets in the areas of biomarker discovery, assay validation and clinical study analysis. Assists in developing appropriate study protocols, communicates relevant information to colleagues and participates constructively in decision making that will impact the performances of the final product.

• Ideal location of candidate is near Irvine, CA. Candidates outside this area will be considered.
• PhD in bioinformatics, mathematics, computer science, biology, chemistry, or similar, with 2-4 years’ experience in an industrial environment.
• Expertise with Python, Matlab, R, and SQL.
• Previous experience with next generation sequence alignment tools, sequencing quality scores and their interpretation, preferably in a diagnostics development environment.
• Experience with current bioinformatics tools supporting NGS applications (RNASeq, qPCR, methylSeq, mutational analysis, SNP discovery).
• Previous experience with managed code and source control concepts and developing and maintaining analysis pipelines.
• Must be able to direct and design experiments, studies and perform data analysis for others and have demonstrated experience in achieving results with team members in non-biological disciplines.
• Experience in clinical diagnostics and in prostate cancer research or diagnostics is desired.
• Ability to work collaboratively with people across multiple functional areas.
• Hiring salary range: $112,026 to $140,000. The actual annual salary will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
